Hestra Army Leather GORE-TEX Gloves Review
Hestra. Gloves. You know- and if you don’t , you’re about to find out. For over 80 years Hestra has been developing gloves that provide warmth, protection and fingertip sensitivity for the most varied conditions. So I was pumped to return to skiing in Hestra gloves, specifically the Hestra Alpine Pro Army Leather GORE-TEX Glove.
About Hestra

In 1936 the Magnusson family based in Hestra Sweden started making gloves for local lumberjacks, shortly after turning to ski gloves. If 80 years of gloves development says anything it’s means these are THE top tier brand.
The Hestra Army Leather GORE-TEX is a apart of the Alpine Pro line. Alpine Pro gloves are inspired by freeriders, mountain guides, instructors, and others who place high demands on their gloves. Skiers and riders who ride in varied mountain terrain and weather conditions will find this glove to be a great choice.
Durable GORE-TEX Glove

The Hestra Army Leather GORE-TEX is a classic long lasting and durable glove for those who need a warm and dry glove in really cold conditions at a high activity level. The palm is made of Army goat leather. The backhand is made of Hestras windproof yet breathable fabric. The GORE-TEX liner insures a dry interior while the G loft insulation keeps your hands warm.
Hestra Eagle Grip

The leather on these gloves is extremely supple needing no break in time. The fingers are shaped in their “Eagle Grip” which curves nicely to grip poles. Be sure to use the included wax and keep applying that as the season goes on to ensure a waterproof palm. The rest of the glove is designed perfectly to keep you dry. The over the jacket cuff design is great for deep powder snow, the cinch ensures a perfect tight for.
Performance

I found the Hestra Army Leather GORE-TEX to be a top choice for deep powder skiing and mountaineering. The supple leather palm grips ropes nicely and is easy to tie knots and work with anchors. They stay super dry all day and keep you warm but breathe really well not creating a clammy feelin.

On cold days I have used these on the skin track no problem. I really like the wrist straps letting you get your hands out and not worry about dropping your gloves, super nice for the chairlift or for working around in extreme terrain. I had a pair of these 15 years ago and they lasted probably 10 years before I replaced them. That says something about their durability.
