Mountain Ready Appeal

The Smartwool 250 Men’s Baselayer Hoodie is designed to be used in active environments. Made out of 100 percent Merino wool it is a breathable, odor resistant, and thermoregulating layer.

From the ski mountains to the climbing wall it’s versatile thin wool is great at temperature regulation. I think of this layer like a sun hoody with a little insulation for those chillier days. The Smartwool 250 Men’s Baselayer Hoodie is really good at dealing with changing temperatures as the day changes or as you change elevations.

The versatility here makes the Smartwool 250 one of our favorite crossover pieces for skiing, climbing, winter hiking and travel where temperature swings are common throughout the day.

100% Merino Wool

The 100% merino wool used in the Smartwool 250 men’s Baselayer Hoodie wicks sweat from your body and keeps you feeling fresh, while resisting odors. It also dries out very quickly, but the beauty of merino wool is even when it becomes wet, it provides warmth. The hood feature is really nice for providing shade when placed over a helmet or hat, and warmth when placed under.

The feel of this 100 percent Merino wool base layer on the body is really pleasant. It has a nice stretch to it, and is constructed really well with flat lock seams to reduce chaffing. There’s also a small zipper pocket to keep your keys or a gel packet on a quick mission.

Smartwool Merino 250 Base Layer Hoodie Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Mountain Ready Appeal
  • Versatile for temperature regulation
  • Constructed well with flat lock seams

Cons:

  • May be on the pricier side
  • Not as lightweight as some alternatives
