Weight

One of the first things that caught my attention was the significant reduction in weight compared to my previous poles. The LEKI Helicon Lite Poles are true to their name – incredibly light. This feature is a game-changer for those who prioritize minimizing weight during touring. Trust me, things add up quickly. This pole took a top spot in our current guide to the best at/ splitboard poles on the market.

SpeedLock System

The SpeedLock system on the LEKI Helicon Lite Poles is a game-changer. Not only is it more durable than the traditional twist-to-lock mechanism, but it’s also faster and more convenient. I have never once owned a twist to lock pole that didn’t end up getting stuck in one position or breaking all together. Adjusting the pole length is a breeze, allowing for quick transitions and packability. This reliability is crucial for more demanding missions.

I found that one adjustment point allowed for plenty of packability. One adjustment also felt quicker and more stable than multiple adjustments per pole.

Thoughtful Design

The extended grip on these poles proved to be an asset, especially while touring in variable terrain or traversing across slopes. Even the basket is specially designed for touring with a short edge for adjusting your risers and a long edge for scraping icy skins; just beautiful. The hand strap is also durable and easy to adjust.

Built for Ski Mountaineering

The collapsibility and weight of the LEKI Ski Poles are standout feature, particularly for ski mountaineering. Being able to quickly collapse the poles is essential when transitioning between activities. The poles secure effortlessly to my pack when fully collapsed, allowing for hassle-free storage and ensuring they don’t get in the way during other parts of my adventure.

LEKI Helicon Lite Ski Poles Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Significant reduction in weight
  • SpeedLock system for quick adjustments
  • Extended grip and thoughtful design

Cons:

  • One adjustment point for pole length
  • May not suit those who prefer heavier poles
