Coalition Snow’s mission is to slay the ways of the patriarchy in the Outdoor Industry so females from all walks of life can feel included like the Queens they are. Hence, their creation of the all-mountain, Queen Bee snowboard.

My experience on the Queen Bee was fun, easy to maneuver, and confidence boosting. As an advanced rider, I believe this board will support beginners in mastering the basics, while snowboard veterans will be surprised with a newfound spark of child-like wonder. If you’re looking for a board to learn on that will grow with you, especially if you’re keen on the park, drop your workload and order this board. If you’re a veteran looking to be inspired by a sense of exploration or have been bit by the I-want-to-jump-off-things bug, what are you waiting for?

Performance

All-mountain boards are made for just that, the whole mountain. This is a popular type of board for anyone looking for a 1-stick quiver, because they typically handle hard-pack, powder, park, and off-piste terrain equal in respect. If you’re new to the sport and want to explore all of your options, the Queen Bee will be your royal guide. Her softer flex yet aggressive riding capability will make it easy for you to ride from sun-up to sun-down.

I tested this board in the Reno-Tahoe area on a bluebird, wind-blown day. The surface was fairly firm, and I was immensely impressed by the edge hold of the board while it simultaneously delivered a ‘jump-off-it’ ego boost. Take off and landings on small side hits and larger jumps felt secure, and I couldn’t help but have a cheesy smile on my face. I challenged this board in off-piste, crunchier, steep terrain and it performed. Personally, I prefer a stiffer board for harder-charging lines in steep terrain. If you have prior experience and feel the same, I would 100% recommend the Coalition Snow Myth snowboard; however, the Queen bee buzzes genuinely like a bee in lighter, champagne powder.

Pros & Cons

Features and Specs

The Coalition Snow Queen Bee is constructed with a true twin shape with 50mm of rocker in the tip and tail and 4mm of camber between the feet. The rocker in the tip and tail assists this board to float effortlessly on deep snow days, while the camber underfoot locks you into each turn transition. If you do take this board out on deep days, I recommend setting your binding stance back for a surfy experience.

This rocker tip and tail + camber underfoot dynamic duo will give you peace of mind while expanding on your skills and exploring new terrain. The Queen Bee comes in sizes 143cm, 147cm, 151cm, and 155cm. Coalition Snow has a great sizing chart to help you determine what size snowboard is best for you depending on your riding level.

Pros:

  1. Versatile All-Mountain Performance: The Queen Bee is designed to handle various terrains and conditions, making it a great option for riders who want one board for everything from groomed runs to powder and park features.

  2. Confidence-Boosting and Fun: The board’s combination of a softer flex, rocker in the tip and tail, and camber underfoot provides a stable yet playful ride that makes it suitable for both beginners and more experienced riders. It’s described as confidence boosting and fun to ride.

  3. Good Edge Hold and Pop: Despite its softer flex, the camber underfoot allows for good edge hold on firmer snow, while the overall construction provides pop for jumps and freestyle riding.

Cons:

  1. Softer Flex for Steep Terrain: While versatile, the softer flex might not be ideal for advanced riders who prefer a stiffer board for charging hard in steep, challenging terrain.

  2. Limited Sizes: The board comes in only 4 sizes (143cm, 147cm, 151cm, and 155cm), which could limit options for riders who need a very specific board length.

For a softer flex, all-mountain snowboard, the Coalition Snow Queen Bee’s ($499.99) prowess will satisfy any and all of your indecisive feelings when it comes to the final cut of which board is best for you. Beginners will excel with the Queen Bee’s fun, good time girl energy, and long-time riders will leave their fears behind when locking in on bigger, natural features to jump off of or flying down powder lines.
