Ride Snowboards Warpig Makes Short and Fat Trendy

For years, I’ve been a creature of habit when it comes to snowboard shapes. My quiver has largely consisted of twin tips and directional shapes, always erring on the side of traditional lengths. Even when I hit the surf, I stick to classic shapes. So, it’s fair to say that the concept of a short, fat, wide board like the Ride Warpig Snowboard was something I actively passed on.

My logic, like many old-school riders who remember the 90s and dudes like Damien Sanders and Nick Peratta rocking 180s and 190s, dictated that powder boards needed to be big. Boy, was I wrong.

Taking the Ride Warpig out at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort during a deep storm cycle wasn’t just a test ride; it was a revelation. It delivered one of the best powder days I’ve had in years, and completely reworked my understanding of what a powder board can be.

The snow was deep – the kind of deep that usually has me searching for every ounce of float from a longer deck. I’m a ride in the backseat kinda guy. But the Warpig, despite its compact size, offered an insane amount of float. It’s remarkably responsive and stable, even at lengths that feel comically short when you first pick it up. This sizing-down aspect is hard to get used to; it messes with the ego and basic logic. Yet, on the mountain, it just works.

Zero Camber, Infinite Fun

The Ride Warpig features a Zero Camber Profile, which is essentially flat. This profile, combined with its directional shape (more nose than tail, set-back stance, and matching sidecut), means this snowboard wants to be pointed downhill. And let me tell you, it excels at it.

While you can possibly ride it switch, this board is designed for serious forward momentum, making it fantastic for stomping landings off natural features and truly embracing the fall line. Be like Craig point it down hill.

Snowboard Tech That Makes a Difference

Ride has packed some serious tech into the Warpig, and it’s all designed to enhance the ride.

Slim Walls: This is a technology I’ve enjoyed from Ride for years, maybe even a decade. The evolution of their Roll-in Construction into Slim Walls creates a 3-D composite structure over Slimewall® material. What does this mean on the snow? More efficient energy transfer, lighter weight, and better damping.

The Warpig from Ride Snowboard feels incredibly lively and responsive, allowing for quick edge changes and a playful feel that belies its powder prowess.

Carbon Array™ 3 Laminates: This power distribution technology is a game-changer. Carbon stringers placed at the binding zones gather input from any stance width and all pressure angles, channeling that input to the opposing contact point for maximum board control.

For me, this translated into a board that felt playful but always had the support when I needed it – especially when landing off cliffs. It keeps the board from buckling under pressure, providing a stout feeling without sacrificing agility. If ya gonna send up here in Jackson you better be stomping your landings.

Green Initiatives (Kudos, Ride!)

It’s always great to see brands making an effort, and Ride is doing their part with a couple of key initiatives:

Bio Resin: Using a plant-based Bio Resin instead of traditional epoxy drastically reduces carbon emissions and less toxic chemicals. A definite win-win.

Wend® Meadowfoam Biodegradable Wax: Factory waxed with wax made from wildflower seeds, this non-toxic and biodegradable wax is another step in the right direction.

Everyone who tries this board seems to get stoked. It’s hard to convert non-believers until they actually strap in, but once they do, they get it. The Ride Warpig ($599,99) could easily become a daily driver once the snow starts piling up. Places like Mt. Baker or Jackson Hole would thrive with this board, and I can only imagine how incredible it would be for a cat skiing trip. It’s got insane float, it’s fast, and it really wants to be in the air!
