Dry bags are a must need for many different adventures. Rafting, Snowmobiling, Camping, Fishing and just traveling in general, they prove to be very useful. I have quite a few of them being that I am a Raft Guide in Alaska. When I was offered the Uncharted Supply Vault 65 liter Dry Duffel to test out, I immediately was excited. It’s always nice to have an extra dry bag and try out a different design.

The Vaults sleek black color with red accents makes it stand out. It’s main compartment access is a dry zipper. This had me worried. Zipper’s tend to break pretty easily, especially when they are exposed to glacial silt and other elements of the Alaskan bush. I put zipper lube on it before first use. This seemed to help it out quite a bit. The main access is a nice size at 65 liters. It helped me refrain from making it overweight.

It has an air relief valve on the end that works really well to compress the bag fully after it is zipped. Great feature! The only downside is the black interior. It’s dark in there… It makes it hard to find stuff. I would love a lime green, or yellow interior in a dry bag. Something bright! The Vault also has an external semi-dry pocket. It worked well for sunscreen, bug spray, snacks, gloves, and other things for quick access. This is a nice feature being you don’t need to open the main compartment to get to these items and it kept them separated from my clothing. It is not a dry pocket though, it keeps most water out but I would put anything in there that needs to stay bone dry.

Carrying

The carrying system is awesome on the Uncharted Supply Co. Vault. It has 2 straps that can be used as a backpack or you can use them as a duffel if you prefer. I primarily used it as a back pack. It fit very comfortably. I would just consider the Vault a dry backpack as much as a duffel. The hooks on the straps are nice and big, easy to adjust, easy to unclip, strong, low profile and stay fastened really well. They have a chest strap for added support with an emergency whistle on the buckle also.

Rigging and Tie Down Features

The Uncharted Supply Co. Vault has all sorts of webbing loops on it. 2 big loops on the end, and multiple webbing loops on all 4 corners. They feel very well stitched and fastened to the bag. High quality webbing was used. Gives you all sorts of options to attach the carry straps and also a lot of options to secure it to a Raft, ATV, Snowmobile, or anything for that matter.

Once again I would like to see the webbing a different color than black. This would make it stand out more, allowing for easier rigging. Not a big deal though. I would of used red webbing to go along with the accents of the bag.

Uncharted Supply Co Vault 65L Duffle Bag Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Air relief valve for easy compression
  • Durable construction with high-quality materials
  • Multiple webbing loops for rigging options

Cons:

  • Dark interior makes it hard to find items
  • Zipper might have durability issues

I have been really impressed with Uncharted Supply Co. The Vault 65 Liter Dry Duffel! I was a bit skeptical at first but it won me over. We will see on how long the zipper lasts but so far so good! It’s been on the river for over 2 weeks and I also use it on a daily basis on my ATV. At $159.00 the Uncharted Supply Co. Vault Dry Duffel Bag is really affordable too. 5 stars

Wins: Design, Straps, Tie downs, Adjust-ability, Size, External Pocket, Air Relief Valve, Chest strap with Whistle, Solid Construction.
