Looking to treat yourself to a sturdy groovy folding electric commuter bike that can also tackle unpaved detours? Aventon’s new Sinch.2 is an ergonomic yet sleek foldable e-bike that certainly lives up to the company’s mission to “enable people to find happiness through motion.”
After this afternoon’s test ride, I now understand why I’ve seen bike racks and lawns chock a block full of Aventon bikes. Aventon’s mission is sincere. We recently tested one of Aventon’s newest options, the Sinch.2. Read our comprehensive review below to see how this model stacks up against the fierce competition among folding e-bikes.
About Aventon
Founded in 2013 as a fixed-gear human-power-only bike manufacturer, Aventon started out building lightweight aerodynamic fixed-gear bikes. Their fixed-gear bikes won championship races around the world. As the e-bike world was heating up circa 2018, Aventon pivoted.
Aventon now exclusively sells e-bikes. Just like they won racing championships with their fixed-gear bikes, Aventon is now winning the hearts of consumers with their e-bikes. Besides their folding bike line (Sinch), Aventon also offers commuter, off road, cruiser, step-through, lightweight, and cargo options. Yeehaw.
Aventon Sinch.2 Frame Size
The Sinch.2 comes in just one size that fits adults from 4’11″ – 6’2″. The bike’s step-through frame makes hopping on and off for errands effortless. The frame can carry 300 pounds and the rear rack can carry a whopping 55 pounds. The quick-release seat post makes it easy to share the bike with friends as well as do on-the-fly changes.
The comfy seat pairs well with the 45mm of front suspension to absorb vibrations whether from cracked city streets or grassy park shortcuts. While the gum-colored tire walls are a classy touch.
And the bike easily fold’s up for storage or transporting this foldable e-bike in the back of your vehicle.
Sinch vs Sinch.2
The Sinch.2 is a sweet revamp of the original Sinch. The new features include a torque sensor, turn signal functionality, and a rear rack and fenders. The new version also now rocks a 55-mile range (previously 40) and an 8-speed drivetrain (previously 7).
Aventon Sinch.2 Motor
The battery is seamlessly incorporated into the downtube while the motor is hidden in the rear hub. The 500W 48V brushless hub motor has the ability to peak at 750W for those moments when you need a jolt of extra power. The torque sensor measures your effort and provides assistance accordingly to ensure a more natural ride.
The bike is a class 2 e-bike and can reach a top speed of 20 mph. There are 4 pedal assist levels (Eco, Tour, Sport, and Turbo) and a throttle lever on the right side. The ability to throttle from a complete stop was exciting every time. For a folding bike with 4-inch tires, the motor provides a surprising amount of torque and acceleration that should leave folks pleased.
Aventon Sinch.2 Battery
The 48V 14AH removable battery’s position in the downtube adds to the bike’s overall stability and low center of gravity. The low center of gravity makes the bike a joy to wiggle around corners. When pedaling, the battery provides up to 55 miles of range. Without pedaling, the bike can go 22 miles.
When testing the bike with pedal assist off to simulate a dead battery, we identified an opportunity to smooth out the pedaling experience in the next generation of the bike. Circling back to the things the Sinch.2 does right, the battery charges in just 4-5 hours using a standard wall outlet.
Components
Aventon keeps components straightforward and easy to maintain. The Aventon Sinch.2 has a single-speed front cassette and an eight-speed rear cassette. The mechanical disc brakes eliminate worries about leaking hydraulic brake fluid. The brakes were surprisingly capable given the bike weighs 68 pounds. The bikes heft makes loading it into a car a two person activity.
The bike tech doesn’t stop at the battery and motor on the Aventon sinch.2 E-Bike. The rear kickstand makes parking the bike a breeze. The brake lights are super helpful. A full color display LCD screen, located on the left side of the handlebars, shows speed, odometer, and battery level. The screen also shows a carbon savings widget and the turn signals. Hidden behind the LCD screen is a USB port for charging your phone.

Overall Impression
The Aventon Sinch.2 ($1,499) makes commuting a surfy blast and is capable of grassy/gravely detours. It’s a compact classy commuting machine. The Sinch.2 retails for $1,799 which is slightly higher than the $1,599 for the Sinch Step-Through which we previously ranked as the best of 2023. We’re stoked to see where the Sinch.2 will fall when we update our rankings.

Thanks for the comment, we have not had a chance to ride the Ride1Up Portlola. However taking a quick look at the bike. The Aventon Sinch.2 has a larger capacity battery than both of the Ride1Up batteries available. Each bike features a 750W motor, and has a similar weight capacity of 300 lbs. The main difference being the Aventon is 9 lbs. heavier than the Ride1Up foldable cargo bike version. Were huge fans of both brands it would be hard to go wrong with either bike.

I have ridden my pace 350 2800 miles over a two year period I have kept miles and number of miles per charge average , my pace has averaged 22.5 miles per charge in all conditions. Best mileage is at level 2 4 th gear, don’t carry anything in your left hand it may hit the throttle and surprise you. No maintenance issues other than normal chain wear and one cable fray.
