The most comfortable pair of boots you didn’t know exists comes from Manitobah with their Navajo inspired waterproof lined Mesa Boot.  In 1990 Manitobah Mukluks founder Sean McCormick setup a trading post for Indigenous people to trade handmade mukluks, leathers and fur.

He took the experience learned working with the tribes and in 1997 began selling Manitobah Mukluks which then became a global brand in 2008. If you’re not familiar with mukluks, they’re essentially the first winter boots that were designed over 10,000 years ago by Indigenous people.

Why are these Manitobah Boots so dang cozy, well they’re lined with Sheepskin Shearling and also include Sheepskin Insoles.  If you like the way UGG Boots feel on your feet or Blundstones, you’ll be floored by how soft the Manitobah Sheepskin Shearling feels inside the Mesa Boots.

The rest of the boots is built with full grain leather and suede which allow these mukluk boots to really move with you. While the bottom of the Mesa Boots comes with Rubber and EVA Foam.

Looking to add some style to your winter wardrobe? If so these Manitobah Boots really check off a lot of boxes, they have a rustic look and feel to them, like 10,000 years worth of traditions.

Everything from the laces to the loops even the signature artist series tag on the back really pops.  Available in 3 colors, I tested the Cocoa/Copper colorway which I felt was absolutely perfect for being in the mountains, would work equally well in the desert and if you wear these in the city, look out people will be wanting to talk to you about your sweet boots.

Manitobah Mesa Winter Boots Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Sheepskin Shearling lining for maximum coziness
  • Built with full grain leather and suede for flexibility
  • Rustic design with 10,000 years of tradition

Cons:

  • Not suitable for climbing mountains
  • May lack stability and support

Rated for temperatures down to -14F (-26C) the Manitobah Mesa’s ($220.00) are the perfect winter boot when you want to keep your feet warm and look good while doing it.  Best of all when you rock Manitobah’s you’re supporting Indigenous peoples, their cultures, employment and more. Plus again these things look rad.

Designed by Diné artist, Dewayne Dale Jr. these boots are great at combining a southwest flare along with the warmth and needs of boots from Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Keep in mind these probably aren’t the boots you’ll want to wear for climbing mountains with thousands of feet of vertical feet as the design is more suited for comfort and warmth vs stability and support.
