Materials

When it comes to outerwear, materials are the name of the game and Dakine Sender Stretch 3L Jacket is a top player. The jacket is constructed from recycled polyester and has a smooth buttery texture. This buttery material has a signature 4-way stretch allowing for freedom of movement like never before.

The outer layer is also equipped with 20k waterproofing and 20k breathability for a dry and comfortable day on the slopes. For those of you wondering what these 20k numbers mean: 20k waterproofing – material can withstand 20,000 mm of pressure. 20k breathability – the amount of moisture in grams that can pass through a square meter of the material, from the inside, in a 24 hour period.

Fit

In terms of fit, I found the Dakine Sender Stretch 3L Jacket to be true to size with a relaxed fit allowing for easy layering. Because of the flexible materials the jacket seems to fade into the background while riding. The only qualm I have with the jacket is the longer than usual neck, I didn’t notice it most of the day but when I went switch (skiing backwards) the neck flap kicked up and partially blocked my view.

Features/ Thoughtful Design

I love a jacket that you can tell was designed by an actual rider. The Dakine Sender Stretch 3L Jacket fits into this category. I found that there was plenty of pocket space without being over the top. I also loved the card pocket on the left arm making lift lines a breeze.

In addition to the pockets the Dakine sender is equipped with strategically placed vents that can make or break you on those hot warmer days. The longer than typical neck I mentioned earlier, also doubles as a facemask with vents which is perfect in a pinch.

Style

Finally we have to talk about style. Have you been riding with the pros lately? If so, you’ve noticed that solid colorways are in. The Dakine Sender Stretch 3L jacket mirrors this perfectly making sure you stand out on the slopes. I went with the newest color in the lineup: Sunflare, and I could not be happier. The orange red tones pop wonderfully.

Dakine Sender 3L Stretch Jacket Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • 4-way stretch material for freedom of movement
  • 20k waterproofing and 20k breathability
  • Thoughtful design with plenty of pocket space

Cons:

  • Longer than usual neck flap
  • No mention of insulation for warmth
  • Higher price compared to some competitors

Overall, the Dakine Sender Stretch 3L Jacket ($494.95) is a well-designed and highly functional piece of outerwear that is perfect for riders looking for a high-performance, yet comfortable and stylish jacket. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just starting out, this jacket is a great investment.
