iHood Heated Jacket Review
A big part of my winter life in Wyoming is the constant struggle to regulate my body temperature as I transition from one winter activity to the next. I work as a cross country ski coach and engage in my own pursuit of ski turns each day before coaching ski practice in the afternoons. One minute my body will be working and hot, and the next I’ll be stopped and cold due to changing weather conditions or sitting on a chairlift.
As the saying goes, “If you don’t like the weather in Wyoming, just wait 10 minutes.” This constant struggle of mine is why I was stoked to try the iHood Heated Jacket.
How it Works?

The heated jacket from iHood is battery-powered with a small 12 V rechargeable battery that warms up to 158 degrees Fahrenheit. There are three main heating areas that heat up separately. The zones are the front core, back side, and neck. Simply charge the rechargeable battery and plug it into the cord that can all be zipped into a small inside pocket and tucked away safely. Then, you can easily control the heating zones with buttons on the front left chest of the jacket.
There is a range of 3 different temperature settings to adjust your comfort level.
Fit and Features

This jacket fits true to size with a slightly boxier feel. I tend to go for an oversized fit when it comes to winter jackets so that I can add layers underneath. Keep in mind, though, that this jacket will be warmer if you fit true to size so that it heats close to your body. The iHood is machine washable, which is very convenient; just make sure to follow washing instructions. The jacket has many different zippered pockets, offering plenty of storage spaces. Overall, the look is flattering, and I love that the retractable hood is large enough to fit over my ski helmet.
I tested this jacket in windy, snowy conditions, and it proved to be resistant against these elements. I wanted to get a sense of how waterproof the jacket would be in a wet snowstorm, so I placed it under the kitchen faucet and ran water over the sleeves. Amazingly, water beaded off, but I would say a Gore-Tex or true waterproof shell would stay drier if the conditions were soaking wet.

Overall Impression

My overall impression is that the iHood Heated Puffer Jacket ($189.99) could be a game changer! It is the piece of gear that I have been searching for to help with my winter lifestyle and comes at a price much lower than many mainstream outdoor brand’s non heated jackets. It has made me more comfortable this winter ice skating, resort skiing, backcountry skiing, cross country skiing, and even walking dogs.
I would strongly recommend the iHood Heated Jacket for snow machining as well. I love being able to have some ability to control temperature as I move through diverse winter activities and conditions throughout my winter Wyoming days.
