The sky is only a backdrop to the jagged, sharp peaks and pinnacles in array towering above. These rocky giants are a familiar sight in the backyard I grew up with. Oh, what a special occasion it is to get to spend five days and four nights skiing and resting in a hut nestled in the Sawtooth mountains.

I pack and carry my own gear into the backcountry. I must commit to only the items I’ve brought in my pack for the next 5 days of activity. Having never tried Gordini gloves before, I put a lot of trust in bringing the Women’s Ridgeline Gloves as my only option.

What Are They For?

The Gordini Ridgeline gloves are very warm and known to be waterproof, windproof, and breathable. This makes them a great choice for skiing and snowboarding. I would mostly use these gloves at the ski resort, but they were an essential part of my gear collection for my most recent backcountry ski trip.

They worked well paired with a very thin glove liner. I could take them off and leave them dangling by the leash going uphill and then have easy access to put them on at the top for going down. I skied a lot of laps up and down in the same places, so this was a convenient and comfortable method with the recurring, dramatic changes in body temperature.

Worth noting twice, my favorite feature has to be the leash. I love being able to easily take gloves on and off without stopping or worrying about finding a place to put them. They also have a carabiner loop which is great for hang drying. The fabric is soft enough for me to wipe my nose with (Let’s all admit that nose wiping in the great outdoors is simply a part of skiing).

The lining wicks moisture, and the stiffness of these gloves makes them easy to slide on and off, even when my hands aren’t totally dry. Lastly, they are wind resistant and windproof.

Gordini Ridgeline Gloves Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Very warm and waterproof
  • Convenient leash for easy on/off
  • Wind resistant and breathable

Cons:

  • Not ideal for warmer weather
  • May be pricey for some budgets
  • Leash design may not suit everyone

The Gordini Ridgeline Gloves ($129.95) are tough winter warriors. They shrugged off icy winds and biting snow, keeping my hands constantly warm and dry. For those seeking high-quality winter protection, the Gordini Ridgeline gloves will provide reliable warmth when the temperature is low and the wind blows.
