Expert Travel Guides: Luxury Resorts & Local Jackson Hole Tips

Where to Stay in Jackson Hole This Summer: A Local’s Guide

After 15 seasons living in Jackson Hole, one question never changes:

“Where should I stay?”

The answer depends entirely on the type of trip you’re planning.

Are you here for a Snow King concert? A luxury getaway? A family vacation? Wildlife photography? Fly fishing? A romantic weekend?

The good news is Jackson has everything from hostels to five-star resorts. The challenge is understanding the tradeoffs between staying in Town, Teton Village, Wilson, or along the Snake River corridor.

Here’s where I would send my friends.

15 Overview on Where to Stay and Why

Stay in Town of Jackson WY if You’re Here for Concerts

For visitors attending the Snow King Summer Concert Series, my advice is simple: stay in Jackson. If you’re unfamiliar with the venue, check out our Snow King Mountain Resort Review for a closer look at the mountain and why it’s become one of the most unique concert settings in the West.

Stay in Jackson.

Snow King Mountain sits directly adjacent to downtown Jackson, allowing visitors to walk to restaurants, bars, shops, hotels, and the venue itself.

Unlike Red Rocks or The Gorge, you can enjoy a show, grab a late-night drink, and walk back to your room without dealing with parking lots or shuttle lines.

The Cloudveil

If budget allows, The Cloudveil is currently my top hotel recommendation.

Located directly on Town Square and part of the American Express Fine Hotels + Resorts program, The Cloudveil offers luxury accommodations, a rooftop deck, pool, mountain views, and immediate access to downtown Jackson.

It’s also located above The Bistro, which happens to be one of my favorite restaurants in town.

If I were flying into Jackson for a concert weekend, this would be my first call.

The Cloudveil

Inn on the Creek

My favorite hidden gem.

I’ve actually reviewed Inn on the Creek extensively and frequently use it myself for local staycations.

The location is outstanding—just a short walk from Town Square—while feeling worlds away thanks to its creekside setting.

What makes Inn on the Creek special isn’t luxury.

Learn why Inn on the Creek remains one of my favorite local staycation properties in our full Inn on the Creek Review.

The staff knows your name. The breakfasts are homemade. The cookies are legendary. The Jacuzzi Fireplace Rooms remain one of my favorite places in town to unwind after a long day.

For travelers seeking authentic Jackson hospitality rather than corporate luxury, it’s tough to beat.

SpringHill Suites Jackson Hole

One of the better value plays downtown.

Walkable location.
Reliable Marriott experience.
Free breakfast.
Easy access to Snow King and Town Square.
Stones throw from Center for Arts

Cache House

For solo travelers and budget-conscious adventurers.

Jackson isn’t known for cheap lodging, but Cache House offers one of the more affordable downtown options while keeping visitors within walking distance of nearly everything.

Teton Village: Resort Life

Approximately 20 minutes from downtown Jackson.

Teton Village is ideal for visitors prioritizing resort amenities, spas, pools, mountain views, and a more traditional vacation experience.

Four Seasons Jackson Hole

The flagship luxury property.

Exceptional service.
Spa.
Pools.
Mountain setting.

You’re paying for the entire experience, not simply a room.

Four Seasons Jackson Hole

Teton Mountain Lodge & Spa

One of my favorite Village recommendations.

Often delivers much of the luxury experience at a lower price point than Four Seasons.

Hotel Terra

Another strong option offering excellent access to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort while remaining relatively close to town.

Winter visitors may feel differently. During ski season, Teton Village becomes the center of the action, offering direct access to Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and some of the best ski-in, ski-out lodging in North America.

We’ll cover that in a dedicated Where to Stay in Jackson Hole During Ski Season guide later this year.

Wilson & The Aspens

Wilson is where many longtime locals and repeat visitors choose to stay.

You’ll find a mix of private homes, luxury rentals, and quieter neighborhoods that feel removed from the crowds while remaining only minutes from both Jackson and Teton Village.

If your ideal Jackson trip involves morning coffee on a deck looking toward the Tetons rather than walking to bars and concerts, Wilson deserves a look.

Wilson and The Aspens offer:

  • Condos
  • Vacation rentals
  • Kitchens
  • Larger living areas
  • Better value for groups

Many repeat visitors prefer this area because it provides easy access to both Jackson and Grand Teton National Park.

Snake River & Private Homes

For travelers prioritizing privacy, river access, and larger gathering spaces, properties along the Snake River corridor can provide tremendous value.

Many homes feature private hot tubs, expansive outdoor living spaces, fly-fishing access, and unobstructed Teton views.

These properties tend to work particularly well for:

  • Multi-generational families
  • Couples traveling together
  • Corporate retreats
  • Wedding and reunion groups

Private homes can often provide better value than multiple hotel rooms.

Think:

  • Fire pits
  • Hot tubs
  • River access
  • Teton views
  • Outdoor entertaining spaces

Snake River Sporting Club

What About Camping?

Camping around Jackson can be incredible, though availability becomes challenging during peak summer months. I’ll be putting together a dedicated guide to my favorite Jackson Hole camping areas later this summer.

Popular local areas include:

  • Shadow Mountain
  • Curtis Canyon
  • Teton Pass
  • Gros Ventre

Generally speaking, the farther you get from town, the easier it becomes to find solitude.

Local Tip

Many visitors underestimate how much time they spend commuting.

If concerts, restaurants, bars, and nightlife are your priority, stay in Town.

If luxury resorts, spas, and mountain views are the priority, stay in Teton Village.

Both are great choices.

They simply create very different Jackson Hole experiences.

Need Help Planning Your Trip?

Not everyone wants to spend hours researching restaurants, wildlife viewing locations, scenic drives, concert logistics, and transportation.

For visitors staying in Teton Village, Wilson, or private homes outside town, Grizzly Woody offers private transportation, concert transfers, wildlife excursions, and curated Jackson Hole experiences throughout the summer.

Overview on Where to Stay and Why

The best place to stay in Jackson Hole depends entirely on what brought you here.

If you’re visiting for concerts, restaurants, nightlife, and walkability, stay in town.

If you’re seeking luxury resorts, spas, and mountain views, Teton Village remains hard to beat.

Either way, book early.

Summer is Jackson Hole’s busiest season, and the best rooms tend to disappear months before visitors arrive.
